National and international access

By air

Inverness Airport is located just 8 miles from Inverness Campus and offers regular flights to major UK cities, including:

  • London

  • Manchester

  • Birmingham

  • Belfast

  • Bristol

International connections are available via Amsterdam, providing access to key European and global destinations.

Across the Highlands and Islands, the region is served by nine airports, supporting strong internal and external connectivity.

By rail

Inverness is served by a comprehensive rail network connecting the city with the rest of Scotland and the UK.

The Caledonian Sleeper provides an overnight service between London Euston and Inverness/Fort William, operating six nights per week, offering a convenient option for business travel.

Information on train times and tickets is available from ScotRail, National Rail Enquiries and Trainline.

By road 

Major trunk roads connect Inverness and the wider Highlands to the rest of Scotland and the UK, including the A9, A96 and A82.

Taxis and buses

A taxi rank is located directly outside Inverness railway station. 

Inverness Campus is well served by local bus services from the city centre and surrounding communities.

Regular services operate from Queensgate and Union Street, both just a short walk from the railway station. All Campus bus stops feature real‑time information displays.

Bus services to Inverness Campus include:

  • City centre: 2, 3, 6 / 6A / 6C

  • Badenoch and Strathspey: M39

Getting around Inverness Campus on foot and bike

Inverness Campus is designed for easy access on foot and by bike, with wide, well-maintained and accessible paths throughout the site.

A pedestrian and cycle bridge crossing the A9 connects the Campus with Raigmore Hospital, LifeScan Scotland, UHI House and onward to Inverness city centre. The route also links into the wider cycle network, including routes over the Kessock Bridge to the Black Isle.

To the east, two pedestrian and cycle routes connect the Campus with Inverness Business and Retail Park, with bridges providing safe crossings over the railway line.

Within the Campus, clearly signposted paths allow people to explore the central parkland and lochans. Public cycle stands are available at the Reception Building and beside the lochans.

 

Hi Bike

E-bike hire

Hi-Bike is an electric bike hire scheme for short journeys around Inverness.

In addition to the bike station at the centre of Inverness Campus (beside the lochans), Hi‑Bike stations are located across the city, including:

  • Falcon Square (near Inverness railway station)
  • NatureScot at Great Glen House
  • Charleston Academy Community Centre
  • Culloden Library
  • Hilton Community Centre

Hi‑Bike offers a range of membership options, from pay‑per‑ride to monthly or annual passes. Memberships can be purchased online or via the Hi‑Bike mobile app.
