Green Marine UK develops subsea workshop to support growth
An Orkney-based company that provides vessels and specialist expertise to the marine industry across Europe has expanded its operations to meet growing demand for its services.
With support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), Green Marine UK has developed a dedicated workshop for its subsea division.
The facility in Stromness provides a clean, controlled environment for servicing, maintaining and preparing specialist subsea equipment, strengthening the company's capabilities and supporting the continued growth of this area of the business.
Founded by Jason Schofield in 2012 to serve the emerging wave and tidal energy sector, Green Marine UK has grown to offer a comprehensive fleet of versatile workboats alongside specialist engineering and marine services. The company now employs 26 people across a range of disciplines.
HIE provided £19,803 to support refurbishment works at the new facility. To accommodate growth, the company acquired nearby premises in November 2025, creating dedicated office accommodation for subsea staff as well as a dedicated workshop space for survey and electrical equipment.
Since establishing the new facility, the business has recruited four additional skilled employees and enhanced its capacity to deliver subsea inspection, survey and maintenance services to clients across the marine and renewable energy industries.
