Logie Timber was established in 2018 is a full-circle timber business based on Logie Estate near Forres. It supplies quality native Scottish hardwoods and softwoods to the construction, furniture and hobby markets using sustainable production methods.

The company has secured up to £30,000 investment from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) towards total project costs. The HIE funding will help towards the cost of buying and installing solar PV modules on the company’s sawmill building in Dunphail.

Senior development manager with HIE’s Moray team Steve Richards said:

“Timber and forestry are important contributors to our regional economy and provide valuable rural employment opportunities. Logie Timber is very much part of this bigger picture. The company is taking proactive steps to strengthen its resilience by cutting energy costs and contribute to the region’s wider carbon neutral ambitions. We’re very pleased to be able to provide support and look forward to continuing to work with Logie Timber.”

Logie Timber owner/director Alec Laing said:

“The funding from HIE has allowed us to invest in reducing our reliance on imported grid electricity and taking another step towards reducing both energy cost and carbon emissions.”
