Luchd-buannachaidh Duaisean Gàidhlig na h-Alba 2018/Gaelic Awards 2018 winners a

Tha na Duaisean a’ toirt aithne do shar oidhirpean is soirbheachadh ann an cultar, foghlam agus saoghal na Gàidhlig san fharsaingeachd, agus iad a’ dèanamh follaiseach an deagh obair a thathar a’ dèanamh gus cor is dualchas a’ chanain a chumail suas is a thoirt air adhart.

Bhuannaich Òigridh Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath an Duais Choimhearsnachd, Dualchais is Turasachd le taic bho Iomairt na Gàidhealtachd is nan Eilean (HIE).

Thuirt Mairi Bochanan bho HIE: “Tha sinn uabhasach toilichte gu bheil Gàidhlig air a cleachdadh mar so-mhaoin anns na coimhearsnachdan, gnìomhachasan agus iomairtean sòisealta air feadh na h-Alba thar na bliadhna a chaidh seachad. Tha sinn a’ toirt meal an naidheachd do dh’ Òigridh Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath dhaibh air cho soirbheachail sa tha iad. ’S e eisimpleir mhath a tha seo a thaobh ùr-ghnothachais le daoine òga rè Bliadhna na h- Òigridh.

“Tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart ri ag obair le buidhnean agus ar com-pàirteachaidh airson a leasachadh mar so-mhaoin agus ag obair air Ro-innleachd Turasachd na Gàidhlig agus. ’S e àm gu math cudromach a tha seo a thaobh cothrom na Gàidhlig ann an Alba agus tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart ri bhith ag obair còmhla ri chèile airson eadar-dhealachadh a dhèanamh.”

Businesses, community groups and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Gaelic language celebrated their achievements this week at the Scottish Gaelic Awards 2018.

The prestigious ceremony held in Glasgow on Wednesday 14^th November honours the very best in learning, success and innovation and celebrates the great work being done in every corner of Scotland, and internationally.

Òigridh Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath won the Community, Heritage and Tourism Award which was sponsored by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).

Mairi Buchanan, senior development manager, at HIE said: “We are delighted to see Gaelic being recognised and used as an asset in communities, businesses and social enterprises throughout Scotland over the past year. We congratulate Òigridh Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath on their fantastic success.  This is a great example of a project which embraces the fresh thinking and innovation that young people bring and it’s great to be involved in the Year of Young People 2018.

“We look forward to working with colleagues and groups to develop Gaelic as an asset and deliver both the Gaelic Tourism Strategy for Scotland and the Gaelic Language Labour Market study findings. This is a pivotal time of opportunity for Gaelic in Scotland and we look forward to working together to make a positive difference.”

The winning project by Òigridh Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath involved pupils from North Uibhist Primary School plan, design and deliver an exhibition to imagine how their life will look in the future.

The event was hosted by Cathie Macdonald, Gaelic broadcaster and sponsored by the Daily Record, HIE, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Historic Environment Scotland and Creative Scotland.

The Gaelic as an Economic Asset Award, sponsored by Grant Thornton was won by ???, recognising the success made by the organisation in realising the proven economic value of Gaelic towards Scotland’s economy.
