Application form

The final date for submission of applications is 1 September 2025 at 12 noon. We expect decisions to be made at the earliest opportunity after the closing date and we expect to make payments by 31 October 2025.

Please note, this is important! 

To allow us to assess your application in full, this form requires a lot of information and multiple document uploads. You can NOT save the form and return to it later. Please ensure you have all of the necessary information and documents to hand before you start filling out this application, including:

  • Evidence of turnover – this could be annual accounts or for self-employed, income tax return
  • For self-employed applicants, an HMRC document showing your Unique Tax Reference (UTR) number
  • Bank statement from the last 3 months – clearly showing account name, account number and bank sorting code. This should be the account any potential award is paid into
  • Company registration number or OSCR registered number, where applicable
  • FCA registration number for registered society, co-operative or community benefit organisation
  • VAT registration number
  • Average annual employee numbers, calculated from permanent and seasonal. A full-time equivalent (FTE) is 30 hours minimum per week but could be 35 to 40 hours according to your organisation’s normal working hours. For part-time staff year-round add 0.5 of a post and the same for full-time seasonal. For part-time seasonal staff count 0.25
  • Details of any previous Minimum Financial Assistance (MFA)

Eligibility

To be eligible for this fund, you must meet the following criteria. Please read each of the following statements carefully and confirm that they all apply to your organisation. 

People in regular paid employment and/or with other sources of income who occasionally provide products or services to the eligible sectors are not eligible.

Have you received any subsidy in the last 3 years that was awarded as Minimal Financial Assistance (MFA)?

This is defined in S36 and S37 of the Subsidy Control Act 2022.

Declarations
  • hereby apply to Highlands and Islands Enterprise, established by the Enterprise and New Towns (Scotland) Act 1990 and having its principal office at An Lòchran, 10 Inverness Campus, Inverness, IV2 5NA (“the Grantor”) for HIE Grant under the Enterprise and New Towns (Scotland) Act 1990 towards the cost of the project described in this Application;
  • authorise the Grantor and/or the Grantor's contracted service delivery providers to make such enquiries as the Grantor may think necessary in connection with this Application including carrying out checks with a registered credit reference agency;
  • accept that the Grantor may request information necessary to carry out due diligence on the Applicant and the project, and that the Grantor may share information with its contracted service delivery providers, and also with other public-sector organisations such as the Scottish Government, Business Gateway, Scottish Enterprise, local authorities, Skills Development Scotland as well as internal or external auditors and statutory regulators to pursue their objectives;
  • confirm that to the best of my/our knowledge and belief the information given in this Application is correct and I/We undertake to notify HIE as soon as reasonably practicable of any changes in circumstances relating to the Applicant and/or the project and/or funding as specified in this application;
  • confirm that I/We have read the Privacy Statement linked within this application and accept its terms;
  • understand that this Application does not constitute an offer of assistance and that this Application for Assistance is subject to approval by the Grantor at its discretion. An approval of this Application will still require me/us to sign a formal contract or undertaking incorporating applicable terms, conditions and obligations to the Grantor;
  • accept that the Grantor expressly excludes any obligation of confidentiality and that in terms of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004, the Grantor may be obliged to disclose information provided by the Applicant.
