The Community Assets Knowledge Exchange programme provides funding to help community organisations take part in training and learning experiences related to owning land or buildings. Grants of up to £2,000 are available.
The focus of this support is on sharing information between organisations, through knowledge exchange visits and peer-to-peer learning.
We can help tailor this support to meet your specific requirements. For example, it can be used for training based on an organisation’s specific needs in relation to community asset ownership.

You may be eligible if you are a place-based community organisation in the Highlands and Islands delivering benefit for your whole community. Your organisation should have existing community-owned assets or have aspirations to become community owners.
Funding of up to £2,000 is available. Organisations should expect to fund 10% of the total costs themselves or from other sources. You will also need to pay for all project costs upfront and then submit a claim to receive your grant.
Community organisations in the Highlands and Islands that wish to own, or already own land or buildings.
Organisations can apply for funding at any time, but ideally at least 6 weeks before the proposed activity begins.
We aim to provide a funding decision within 3 weeks.
If your funding is approved, the activity should take place within a reasonable time, ideally within 3 months.
You'll need to submit a short report after your activity finishes, explaining what your organisation has learned and how this information will be used.

Increasing the role of communities in the ownership and management of land and assets
We have up to £5,000 available to help communities investigate the ownership, register an interest and apply to purchase land and buildings through our Community Right to Buy Fund.
