Artificial Intelligence (AI) Learning Journeys - February 2026

What is it? 

As part of the Scottish Government’s National AI Adoption Programme for SMEs, we are offering two AI International Leadership Learning Journeys in February 2026. These immersive programmes are designed to accelerate AI capability, innovation, and strategic leadership among Scotland’s senior business leaders.

These are presented by Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, South of Scotland Enterprise, The Data Lab and The Scottish AI Alliance.

Up to 40 senior leaders from across Scotland will be selected to:

  • Experience real-world AI applications and best-in-class innovation first-hand
  • Build international connections with AI experts, organisations, and peers
  • Strengthen strategic leadership in the context of AI-driven change
  • Explore ways to lead through complexity and foster cultures of innovation and trust
  • Return equipped to inform and energise their organisation’s AI and digital strategies

Who's eligible?

To apply, businesses must:

  • Identify how data and AI could address specific business challenges, streamline operations, and drive efficiency within their unique context.
  • Meet Fair Work First criteria, including paying the Real Living Wage.
  • Confirm that the named participant is a senior leader available for the full programme.
  • Be working with Highlands and Islands Enterprise through the Innovation and Technology, sector or area teams.

Programme details

Each journey will include company visits, curated briefings, peer learning, conference participation, and inspirational speakers focused on the role of leadership in AI adoption.

London: 2–5 February 2026

  • 2–3 Feb: Company visits, masterclasses, and briefings with top UK AI firms (TBC), which will include the role of leadership in AI adoption
  • 4–5 Feb: Attendance at the AI & Big Data Expo Global, London

France: 10–13 February 2026

  • 10–11 Feb: Company visits, masterclasses, and briefings with top AI firms in Paris (TBC), which will include the role of leadership in AI adoption
  • 12–13 Feb: Attendance at the World AI Cannes Festival (WAICF) 

In-Person Workshops:

To maximise learning and impact, participants will also attend:

  • Pre-journey Workshop: 22 January 2026 (Glasgow)
  • Post-journey Workshop: 26 February 2026 (Glasgow)

Cost of attending

Through the national Scottish Government funded programme, Scottish Enterprise will fully fund:

  • Hotel accommodation
  • Conference tickets
  • Travel between company visits
  • Formal programme dinners

Participants must self-fund:

  • Travel to/from London or France
  • Meals/refreshments outside the formal programme

How do I apply?

Spaces are limited. If you’re a senior leader ready to lead AI adoption and drive innovation, please complete our expression of interest form, you will then receive an application form to formally apply.

Application timeline

  • Expression of interest deadline - Monday 24 November 2025
  • Application forms issued by Friday 28 November 2025
  • Deadline for applications - Monday 8 December 2025
  • Notify successful applicants - after Tuesday 16 December 2025
