New warehouse on Bute will be key to island economy and jobs
The £830,000 project will create four jobs and help retain many others on the island.
Busineses affected by ferry disruption in Coll, Tiree, the Small Isles, Mull, Iona, Ulva, Barra, Vatersay, Islay and Jura have until 5pm on Monday 12 January to apply for financial support.
The £4.4m Islands Business Resilience Fund (IBRF) supports small businesses and social enterprises affected by ferry disruption and reduced footfall, particularly those in tourism or fresh/perishable goods sectors.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is managing fund on behalf of the Scottish Government.
Eligible businesses include shops, cafes, accommodation providers, attractions, tour operators, transport providers and fresh food businesses.
Initially, the fund supported businesses in South Uist, Colonsay, North Uist, Eriskay, Benbecula, Berneray, Grimsay and Arran. The second round now includes more island businesses impacted by travel disruption.
