The event will be delivered by speakers from Scottish and UK Government and hosted by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) at An Lòchran, Inverness Campus.

Organised as part of the Prepare for Brexit campaign, it will be held on Thursday 5 September, 9:30-1pm.

Expert advice and information from speakers include topics such as transport and logistics, trade and tariffs and the regulation of products.

Delegates will have the opportunity to ask specific questions related to the consequences of Brexit on their food and drink business. A panel discussion will be chaired by Elaine Jamieson, head of food and drink at HIE.

Elaine said: “While there is still a great deal of uncertainty about how Brexit will affect businesses in the region, some are already taking steps to prepare, and we would encourage others to do so. There is help available on the Prepare For Brexit website and on our own website. Through these, businesses can access expert advice to help them plan, including a handy 15-point Brexit check list. There are also links to events that can help firms target new markets at home and overseas.”

She added: “Our work in supporting businesses going forward includes identifying new markets in Scotland, the UK and overseas, and the adoption of new technologies to help increase competitiveness.”

Other speakers on the day include Josh Norton, Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Policy Advisor, Maddy Beresford, Agri-Food Chain Business Readiness, DEFRA, and Janine Kellett - Senior Policy Adviser, Food and Drink Division, Directorate for International Trade and Investment, Scottish Government.

Speakers will outline the wider support on offer to businesses as part of the Prepare for Brexit campaign.

There is an option to attend in person or watch a live stream online.
