Registration open for Communities Conference Scotland 2019
More than 250 delegates are set to descend on Aviemore on 27 and 28 May for the Strengthening Communities Conference Scotland 2019. They are coming from Maine in the USA, from England, and from urban and rural locations across Scotland.
The theme of the conference is ‘Ionnsachadh is fàs le chèile’, 'Learning and Growing Together'. Community groups are leading the discussion on conference topics which matter most to them. They include: approaches to community development; owning community assets; delivering community services; financing, sustainability and growth; culture and heritage.
The event is being run by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) with support from the South of Scotland Enterprise Partnership, the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, and the Cairngorms National Park Authority.
Douglas Cowan, HIE’s director for Strengthening Communities, said: “Community projects can be life-changing, especially to those living in rural, remote and disadvantaged areas. They create local opportunities, provide services which could otherwise be lost, and are an investment in the community’s future.”
“The conference provides a great opportunity for community groups at all stages of development to learn from each other’s experiences.”
