Profiling our visitors and exploring new markets

Delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government, the Islands Community Tourism Training Programme is about supporting island communities to develop sustainable, community-led tourism.

The theme of day is about understanding our visitors and their motivations, potential new markets and how to better reach and appeal to them through our online presence.

This learning session will cover:

  • Appraising our current visitor profile – what’s good and what’s not so good

  • Which new markets could be a good match and be interested in our islands?

  • How do we reach out to and attract them?

  • The importance of being visible online

  • Appraising our online presence and simple ways to improve it

The National Islands Plan highlight that islands are central to our identity as a nation and a core part of Scotland's international image.
