How do we know we are making a difference?

Delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government, the Islands Community Tourism Learning and Networking Programme is about supporting island communities to develop sustainable, community-led tourism.

This session's theme is about measuring the impacts of visitors and whether tourism is delivering positive outcomes for our people, culture, economy and environment.

This session will cover:

  • Understanding national and regional data sources

  • Measuring what matters locally – correlating tourism measurement with known community priorities

  • Gathering local lived experience insights

  • Mapping the ripple effects of tourism

  • Conducting local sentiment surveys and responding to visitor feedback

  • Developing a set of indicators that communities can realistically collect and use

The National Islands Plan highlights that islands are central to our identity as a nation and a core part of Scotland's international image.
