Getting AI right in manufacturing at MICM

Most manufacturers aren't asking whether AI matters any more. They're stuck on what to do about it. Tools are already creeping into the business through whatever staff have started using, budgets are tight, and it's hard to tell the genuine opportunities from the hype. Move too fast, and you risk wasted spend, data and governance problems, and an unsettled team. Do nothing and the decision gets made for you.

This session is a grounded, honest place to work that out. It brings together experienced practitioners and a local manufacturer who's already started, and it's built for leaders who want practical direction.

This event is being delivered by MICM in partnership with Peer Works.

Featuring guest speakers:

  • Corinne Thomas, Founder and Principal AI Consultant - Ethical Sales

  • Geoff Todd, Founder and Managing Director - Farsight Digital Solutions

  • John Taubman, IT Director - Walkers Shortbread

  • Panel chair: Eleonora Vanello - Peer Works

Case studies will be presented on Scrabster Harbour by Ryan Maclean and Walkers Shortbread by Jill Armitt.

You'll leave with a clearer view of:

  • where AI is genuinely earning its place in manufacturing, and where it isn't worth the effort

  • how to approach adoption in a structured, low-risk way, starting small

  • what "getting your data ready" actually means day to day

  • the basics of safe use and governance you need in place

  • how to bring your team with you rather than unsettling them

And you'll do it alongside other Moray and Highland leaders facing the same questions.
