From learning to action – community tourism priorities and next steps

Delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government, the Islands Community Tourism Learning and Networking Programme is about supporting island communities to develop sustainable, community-led tourism.

This session's theme is about bringing the programme learning together into a practical, community-led tourism action plan that reflects local priorities, strengthens community control and sets out how benefits will be created, retained and measured.

This session will cover:

  • A review of the 10 different modules and their interrelationships

  • Agreeing community outcomes and principles that will guide local community tourism activity

  • Identifying and prioritising immediate, medium- and longer-term actions

  • Creating an outline community tourism activity plan

  • Identifying opportunities for continued peer support and inter-island collaboration

The National Islands Plan highlights that islands are central to our identity as a nation and a core part of Scotland's international image.
