The role

This position is within the Innse Gall (Outer Hebrides) area team. Our area teams have an important role in delivering HIE’s commitment to place based development, supporting projects that make a real difference locally – from early-stage concepts through to investment and delivery.

As senior development manager, you’ll be working with businesses, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and people who care deeply about the future of their area - and they’ll look to you as someone who can connect ideas, open doors, and bring momentum.

An important part of the role is building strong relationships. You will work collaboratively with local stakeholders, including Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, and ensure that HIE is a good partner.

About you

We’re looking for a candidate with ambition to make a difference, who is proactive, collaborative, customer and solution-focused.

You’re someone who wants to make a difference and is motivated by supporting communities and businesses to grow and thrive.

You’re comfortable working with a wide range of people and can build strong, effective relationships. You’ve experience of working in partnership and know how to influence and bring others with you to deliver results.

You bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach – taking the time to understand what’s needed and helping turn ideas into practical, deliverable projects.

You’re confident managing projects, including assessing proposals, working with financial information, and developing robust cases for investment within a well-governed environment.

You think beyond the immediate task, with an awareness of wider economic and social trends, and an ability to spot opportunities and connect ideas.

A clear and adaptable communicator, you'll be able to work across different audiences, and you’re just as comfortable working independently as you are as part of a wider team.

Above all, you take pride in doing a good job – bringing a collaborative mindset, openness to new ideas, and a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
