Based in North Kessock, Inverness, iDE8 Ltd is a Business to Business independent life science consultancy to the medical device industry.

There is now an exciting opportunity for a 12-month graduate placement to create a new web application for quality and innovation management within the company. The web application will allow the company to compete internationally, whilst bringing to market new tools which will increase research and fast-track medical device development.

Role Description

iDE8 Ltd are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivated individual to join their team to create a web application as a bespoke product for electronic quality management and innovation management within the organisation and with their clients. The successful individual will work alongside management, technical team and external software consultants to complete the project. This will be a varied role and will require the individual to be adaptable and creative.

Specific tasks of the placement will include:

  • Re-engineer the current business website to enable the new web application to be deployed upon it.
  • Define the user requirements for the quality management system.
  • Create workflows and system maps for the new web application.
  • Complete software module; Beta development for the primary module.
  • Implementation and Validation of Primary Module.
  • Development of Secondary Innovation module.
  • Validation of Secondary Innovation module.

  • Degree in Computer Science or other related technical discipline
  • Knowledge and/or Experience using a programming language (e.g. Ruby, Python)
  • Knowledge and/or Experience using relational databases (e.g. MySQL, AURORA,)
  • Knowledge and/or Experience of automated testing (e.g. rspec)
  • Good understanding of version control tools (e.g. Git)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present your ideas to a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


  • Knowledge and/or Experience using common web technologies (e.g. JavaScript, CSS, HTML5)
  • Knowledge and/or Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge and/or Experience building API-based applications (e.g. Postman)
  • Knowledge and/or Experience with big data analytics and machine learning (e.g. Elasticsearch, Kibana)
  • Knowledge and/or Experience with virtualisation/containerisation (e.g. VirtualBox, Docker, K8)
