Situated in Newtonmore in the Cairngorms National Park, Russwood is a well-established supplier of high-quality, responsibly sourced timber flooring, cladding and decking products.

They are offering an excellent opportunity for a 12-month graduate placement to assist with optimising resource and to support continuous improvement throughout the facility. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge in production and manufacturing planning, including lean manufacturing and improvement techniques.

Role Description

You will use your skills and knowledge in lean thinking to visualise, present and support the implementation of changes to improve the flow of products and services through the entire “value stream”.

Specific tasks of the placement will include:

  • Research workflow and production processes and produce a report to present a range of efficiencies and potential cost reductions.
  • Provide information and visualisations to allow decision making for the optimisation of processes, including but not limited to stock handling, manufacturing and workflow.
  • Investigate ‘best of type’ machinery that is most appropriate to produce our manufactured products. Evaluate and reference them with competitors and evaluate their compatibility with existing machinery. Produce and present a report on findings.
  • Work with HR to present learning and development options for the production team including new workflow documentation and training material.

  • Graduated within the last 4 years, qualified to degree level.

  • Knowledge or experience of the timber industry
  • Knowledge of complex manufacturing processes
