Background
Based in Tarbert on the Isle of Harris, Norserv is a facilities management company providing a regular building maintenance program to a number buildings throughout the island.
There is now the opportunity for a 12-month graduate placement to develop and improve business processes. You will identify and implement more efficient ways of working, estimating and controlling costs whilst ensuring legal and quality standards are met.
Role Description
Specific tasks of the placement will include:
- Assist with the roll out self-testing of emergency lighting for all buildings.
- Review current work scheduling for maintenance visits and identify ways to improve efficiency.
- Ensure all systems of work in keeping with changing legislation while ensuring safety of employees and customers alike.
- Collaborate with agencies that own the buildings and involve them in consultation.
- Set up an electronic scheduling system of work to be carried out by geographical area and begin implementation.
- Develop a system for authorising works to be completed on site when identified, allowing corrective works to be completed timeously.
- Investigate renewable energy resources and identify and source innovated systems of working.
- Ensure all systems of work have suitable and sufficient risk assessments in place.

Qualifications
Minimum Degree Level, preferably related to Business or Quantity Surveying. Other subjects accepted provided the candidate has the required skills.
