Background

Nortenergy is a community-owned enterprise based in Northmavine in Shetland which designs and produces durable polytunnel/greenhouse hybrids using recycled materials from the aquaculture industry. The end product is the Polycrub.

They have an excellent opportunity for a 12-month graduate placement to help establish their growing network of distribution hubs. The successful candidate will review and develop business processes in order to improve logistics and expand the distribution network.

Role Description

Specific tasks of the placement will include:

  • Development of a data set and database through the analysis of sales and orders over the last three years.
  • Preparation of comprehensive peer reviewed report to Directors on priority areas for distribution centre.
  • Investigate geographical areas further for potential market, competition and possible companies to act as a distribution centre and as a trusted constructer.
  • Investigate logistics and supply chains associated with possible distribution hubs.
  • Analysis of company’s processes for enquiries, ordering, stock management, procurement and other logistics.
  • Preparation of comprehensive peer reviewed and costed report to Directors on suggested process improvements, IT and digitisation.
  • Assist with the implementation of agreed process improvements.

Skills

Essential:

  • Minimum Degree level obtained within the last 4 years.
  • Knowledge of business planning and strategy.
  • High level of IT literacy, including experience of databases and/or spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to collect, analyse and summarise data and trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work unsupervised and use own initiative, but also as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • A friendly and enthusiastic disposition.
  • Knowledge of business process development and operational practices.
  • Experience of report writing.
  • Ability to problem solve.

Qualifications

Minimum Degree level, preferably Business related but other subjects considered provided the candidate has the required skills.
