Find out about the Rural Leadership Programme

We're all living in unprecedented times when the business environment is affected, and perhaps changed forever, by the twin uncertainties of Covid-19 and Brexit. Businesses will need strong leadership to get through a period of intense change and take advantage of opportunities.

What is the Rural Leadership Programme?

We've joined forces with Scottish Enterprise to deliver the Rural Leadership Programme. It'll support 10 businesses across the Highlands and Islands region gain leadership skills and the confidence to help drive forward their rural business.

The programme is designed to equip rural business owners and managers with the confidence and skills to make bold decisions and to get the best from themselves, their business and their team.

Who's it for?

The programme is open to applications from small to medium rural businesses and from family businesses to social enterprises across all sectors of the rural economy. This includes primary production, food and drink and tourism environmental services. A variety of people will participate in the programme from young people working early in their careers to managing directors.

How will it be delivered?

The programme will be facilitated by SAC Consulting and will be delivered virtually through an engaging interactive format.

Led by key experts in their field, the programme:

  • Includes over 40 hours of virtual workshops, team tasks, group discussion and one-to-one coaching sessions over six months.
  • Runs from October 2020 to March 2021, there will be four regional groups, each with 10 participants. Highland, North East, East and South East, South West Scotland, with opportunities to come together as one large group for later workshops.
