Net Zero funding

Nature Restoration Fund

The Nature Restoration Fund is part of a new Scottish Government £10m fund to restore nature and tackle biodiversity loss. £1m of the fund has been allocated towards a small project competitive fund of £1 million to be distributed by NatureScot. This competitive element is now open for applications, with a closing date of 27 July 2021.

Green jobs fund

The Scottish Government has allocated £50 million to the enterprise agencies for a Green Jobs Fund from 2021-26. The purpose of the fund is to support organisations that provide sustainable and/or low carbon products and services to develop, grow and create jobs.

HIE will be focusing its allocation of the fund (£6.4million) towards supporting projects that:

  • create jobs;
  • produce goods or provide services that benefit the environment or conserve natural resources; and/or
  • involve making organisational production processes more environmentally friendly.

The closing date for notes of interest is 12 noon on 24 July 2021.

MSIP Innovation Challenge 1

This grant funding call from Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) is for companies seeking to develop zero-emission alternatives for small-scale off-grid, mobile or temporary energy provision.

Through this call, MSIP is looking to support early-stage opportunity or feasibility studies that will allow companies to develop a platform for future product and process development opportunities.

Successful applicants will receive funding of up to £5,000 to support the opportunity or feasibility study that addresses the challenge.

Approximately £50,000 of grant funding is available to fund up to 10 projects. Find out more and apply here. The closing date is 11am on 20 August 2021.

The SME Loan Fund 

The SME Loan Fund can be used for the installation of heating renewables and many energy efficiency measures (such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, building fabric, and more). It is funded by the Scottish Government which is committed to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to reduce energy and resource costs.
