Senior Project Manager - Offshore Innovation

We are looking for an experienced project manager to represent HIE on a multi-partner EU project to enhance the development of the blue economy in the Highlands and Islands and on a national basis.

  • Currently homeworking, with the option to adopt a hybrid style of working based on individual role, style, and preference when HIE offices fully re-open. 
  • HIE has offices across the Highlands and Islands; flexible HIE office location will be considered.
  • Starting salary £37,866 pro-rata per annum, potential progression to £43,068 pro-rata per annum.

  • Fixed term for three years, part-time, 17.5 hours per week.

We're looking for an experienced project manager to represent HIE on a multi-partner EU project which has been set up to support innovation in SMEs, through collaboration and knowledge sharing with other partners, to enhance the development of the blue economy in the Highlands and Islands and on a national basis.

The role

In this role you’ll:

  1. Lead HIE’s role in the Green Offshore Technology (GOT) EU partnership, representing the organisation and the region in all activities and engagement.
  2. Engage with core EU partners/clusters to develop a good understanding of strengths and expertise in order to create solutions-focused collaborations which are relevant and valuable for our region and businesses.
  3. Develop and deliver a communication strategy that raises awareness of the project, the sectoral and business opportunities, whilst promoting a culture of collaboration and ambition.
  4. Develop a priority list of companies in the region to work closely with to develop collaborative projects.
  5. Develop a good understanding of the funding landscape, e.g., Scottish, UK, EU, to create potential finance opportunities for projects.
  6. Co-ordinate and support the internal steering group for the project, working closely with area teams and key sectors to optimise outcomes and contribute to wider HIE objectives.
  7. Liaise with key agencies such as Crown Estate Scotland and Marine Scotland to create opportunities that align to national strategies and priorities.
  8. Identify relevant best practice from within the partnership and represent to a regional audience, e.g., by preparing informative and compelling papers, and talking at conferences and events.
  9. Ensure appropriate compliance with all aspects of EU project governance, including finance and reporting.

The person

It’s essential that you have strong client engagement and business management experience, with the ability to build strong client relationships.   

You’ll have experience in delivering partner projects, engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at regional and national level.

You’ll have strong analytical, project monitoring and evaluation skills and be adept at bringing business-to-business collaborations together effectively.

Experience of working in international teams or with international project partners would be desirable, as would engineering, technology or science expertise to support the development of green offshore technology projects.
