Three vital tasks

In an increasingly competitive marketplace it is essential for a tourism operator to do three things really well.

And these are:
· highlight their primary selling points
· constantly innovate
· and ensure visitor experience lives up to and exceeds expectation.

The first task is selling your business to the customer by promoting the primary attractors. Spelling out what makes your business special and why customers should trust you with their hard earned cash.

Secondly, innovation is the name of the game. To thrive, a tourism business simply cannot afford to stand still. We need to get out of our comfort zones and challenge the status quo. Just because things have always been done in a certain way doesn’t mean that we have to keep doing it that way. Customer trends change over time and so we must match this by tailoring our product to suit. Product development, however, should be informed by market research.

The third task is no less important than the others. What we promise by way of our marketing proposition must be delivered upon by the product we provide. To ensure this is carried out there must be a commitment to quality and quality assurance at all levels of the organisation.

This trio are required to underpin all our marketing efforts otherwise the return on investment will be adversely affected.
