Keeping tabs on what's on
|
|
Being in a customer-facing role in tourism carries with it the assumption that you are a font of local knowledge and an entertainment guide. While the former can be built up over the years, the latter definitely does not stand still. Local weekly newspapers and radio are good sources to keep tabs on forthcoming events of interest. But with so many other things competing for your finite time and attention this isn't always possible. So why not check out the monthly What's on Guides produced by VisitScotland. These are arranged on a geographic basis and can be downloaded as PDF documents to print out and pin to your guest notice board. (You will need Adobe Acrobat, which can be downloaded for free, to open the documents.) But don't forget the comprehensive HI-Arts portal which is constantly updated with all the latest news and happenings across the Highlands and Islands. Their web site features a dedicated What's On! Section with an interactive map and events search and events calendar tools to make it as easy as possible to find the type of event you are looking for. Well worth linking to from your own web site. However, you can go one better and have HI-Arts events content display directly within your own web site. See HI-Arts on your web site for details. To have the RSS newsfeeds display on a web page, go to feeddigest.com, Magic RSS, Dynamic Drive and this article, How to display RSS feeds on your website |
