Teeing up golf tourism

As the internationally recognized home of golf, Scotland is the prime location for the development of golf tourism. According to recent statistics produced by Visit Scotland, golf represents a £300 million slice of the total tourism contribution to the Scottish economy.

Golf’s stature and worth to the Scottish economy is therefore of great importance, a fact that has brought into existence Golf Tourism Scotland. Formed in May 2005 by a group of like-minded golfing businesses, the organisation’s membership has grown to over 140 companies that embrace hotels, golf courses, tour operators, travel providers, golf services providers and other relevant businesses.

Golf Tourism Scotland's aim is to be recognised as the association representing golf tourism industry throughout Scotland and, therefore, the body to take a leading role in the development of overall strategy and in influencing specific public/private partnership activities to develop and market golf tourism.

Visit the Golf Tourism Scotland web site for further information and VisitScotland.org for up to date research on golf tourism in Scotland.
