E-business in tourism

E-business is recognised as a vital tool within tourism to achieve the growth ambition for 2015 as endorsed by the Tourism Framework For Chance strategy. Every piece of research points to the consumer researching and buying more and more online. It is therefore vital that tourism businesses are well equipped and skilled to meet changing consumer demands.

For example:

  • 70 per cent of UK adults use the internet for holiday research
  • 94 per cent of tourism turnover is home market
  • 52 per cent of accommodation businesses get 50 per cent of all business from their website
  • 75 per cent of self catering and 65 per cent of B&Bs take at least 50 per cent of custom through the web
  • 95 per cent agree that web bookings are increasing
  • 40 per cent believe training would improve Return on Investment   *
