One of the simplest ways to put a visitor, guest or client at their ease is to offer them a cup of tea or coffee. This is especially welcome if the journey has been a long one. The following phrases will help you to make visitors feel at home, and it’s also very handy for the staff room! |
| An gabh sibh cupa tì? | Will you take a cup of tea? |

| A bheil sibh ag iarraidh tì? | Do you want tea? |
|
| A bheil sibh ag iarraidh cupa cofaidh? | Do you want a cup of coffee? |
|
| A bheil sibh ag iarraidh bainne is siùcar? | Do you want milk and sugar? |
|
| Tha mi ag iarraidh cofaidh dubh | I want black coffee |
|
| Tha mi ag iarraidh cofaidh geal | I want white coffee |
|
| Gabhaidh mi dà làn na spàine | I’ll take two spoonfuls (of sugar) |
|
| Gabhaidh mi cupa cofaidh | I’ll take (have) a cup of coffee |
|
| Gabhaidh mi cupa tì | I’ll take (have) a cup of tea |
|
| Gabhaidh mi briosgaid | I’ll take a biscuit |
