Forres Area Community Trust

Forres Area Community Trust (FACT) was set up in September 2011 to promote the regeneration of areas including, Rafford, Dunphail, Brodie, Dallas, Dyke, Findhorn, Logie, Kinloss, part of Alves, and Forres itself.

Aspiring to be recognised as a charitable company limited by guarantee, the Trust aims to identify and develop projects that create social and economic benefit for the community. Members plan to help ensure that the Forres area remains a place where people want to live and work, now and in the future.

Already, £175,000 of joint funding has been secured from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and Moray LEADER. This is earmarked to enable the employment of two full-time equivalent development officers.

Forres Area Forum has been the incubator for this project, hosting and supporting meetings since March 2011.

Forres Academy Catchment Area Community Survey

The survey results form part of a series of community surveys commissioned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE). The participating communities are receiving a programme of intensive support through HIE's Community Account Management programme. This involves helping communities to take responsibility for planning their future economic and social development.

HIE is developing a measurement framework and outcome indicators for each area, and the survey results will form an important part of the baseline data. The research explores local attitudes and aspirations and it attempts to measure the level of 'community confidence' in each area. The exercise will be repeated some years in the future. These survey findings will be used in conjunction with other desk-based research as well as locally collected data in each community.
