HIE Moray would like to invite you to a Speed Networking event
on Wednesday 17 September 2008,
5.45 for 6.15 till 9pm.

The event will be held at Horizon Scotland, The Enterprise Park, Forres on Wednesday 17 September 2008 - for directions have a look at the Horizon Scotland website. A buffet and coffee will be available on arrival.

In April 2008 HIE ran their third Speed Networking event for RAF leavers and local employers. Speed Networking gives people a structured environment in which they can talk to people they wouldn't otherwise have come into contact with. The event in April attracted 14 Moray employers and 40 RAF leavers and was an opportunity for RAF leavers to sell their skills to businesses and an opportunity for employers to learn more about the skills that RAF leaver have. Several jobs were exchanged as a result of the event. Employers in attendance in April included Moray Council, BAE Systems, Bennex, SEIL and Leiths to name a few.

Feedback from the event in April included

RAF Leavers

One RAF leaver said he’d already lined up 2 interviews and he “leaves the RAF today – very pleased”

Another said:

“interesting to meet the businesses and see what’s out there and on offer and meet people”.

Another leaver lined up a formal job interview at 10am on Friday and therefore could have a new job by the weekend as a result of attending last night’s event.

Employers

Mike Ramsay of Scotland Electronics International Ltd said “we interviewed 8 RAF leavers of which 4 are coming for formal interview in the next few days. Excellent venue and very worthwhile attending” -

Also as a result of attending the event, they are now going to use the CTP website (www.ctp.org.uk) to advertise vacancies.

Adam Barber of Forres based TIO Ltd said “we have previously employed 3 ex RAF personnel and they’re all really worthwhile employees. We spoke to 3 or 4 good prospects at this event – and so are really positive”.

Chris Hyde of Bennex said “Very interesting event, we met several very high quality candidates. Very worthwhile”

Richard Allen of McPhersons Ltd said “Found a couple of candidates to follow up on”.

Neil Smith of Smiths Gore said ‘Candidates showed a diverse skills base reflective of an armed services career. Many of the skills are easily transferable into the surveying profession’. Many thanks for inviting ourselves to attend and it was a good evening. Look forward to seeing how things pan out on a couple of candidates who presented themselves and to future similar events"

Another employer said that the evening was “very productive, a good way to meet RAF leavers, impressed with the quality, experience and personality of the leavers.”.
