Helping to support local community development

Introduction

The Community Economic Development Programme (CED) was a European Community Initiative.  It seeks to support small-scale development at local level.

What is covered?

The objective of the programme was to support community development by targeting assistance at areas with recognised development plans.

Who could apply?

In Shetland the Phase Two (2004-2006) target areas were:

  • Whalsay and Skerries
  • Burra and Scalloway
  • Northmavine
  • Foula
  • Lerwick (Old Town)
