HIE's strategic planning and research team has produced this series of sectoral profiles, commenting on the current socio-economic importance of each industrial sector to the Highlands and Islands economy. The sectors profiled are:

  • Agriculture
  • Aquaculture
  • Construction
  • Contact centres
  • Food and drink
  • Forestry
  • Oil and gas
  • Sea fisheries
  • Tourism

The reports provide information about employment, earnings, output, gross value-added (GVA), markets and workforce skills. Further analysis highlights the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for each sector - and identifies key priorities for action.

All profiles are available here, right, in Acrobat pdf format.
