Scottish Enterprise - HIE's equivalent in the southern half of Scotland

Scottish Enterprise

Scottish Enterprise is the economic development agency for southern Scotland, operating from Grampian in the north-east, through the central belt, to the Borders area and Dumfries and Galloway in the south-west.

Like HIE, Scottish Enterprise works in partnership with the private and public sectors and aims to secure the long-term future of the economy in its area - by making industries more competitive.

  • Helping business start-ups and existing companies to grow;
  • Promoting and encouraging exporting;
  • Attracting inward investment; and
  • Developing skills.

Scottish Enterprise, like HIE, is an executive, non-departmental public body sponsored by the Scottish Executive.
