Arnish Development Park

Arnish Development Park is a major manufacturing yard built to support the expanding renewable energy sector. Recent investment in Arnish has created a fully serviced site with deep water, heavy load quay facilities, providing a range of flexible serviced plots.

The Park offers excellent opportunities within high growth business sectors associated with marine engineering that can support future national and international investments in both the renewable energy, and oil and gas sectors.

The Outer Hebrides have an abundant of natural resource attracting developers and investors to the area. The islands hold an ambition to become a global player in renewable energy generation and manufacturing with supply chain activities identified as a key driver for developing the area's economy.

Enterprise Area status

Enterprise Areas are identified locations set up by the Scottish Government in order to stimulate manufacturing opportunities as well as investment and job creation. These locations offer clear opportunities for investment-led growth. 

There are four sector focused Enterprise Areas in Scotland covering 14 sites. Arnish has Enterprise Area status under the Low Carbon / Renewables North sector.

  • Enhanced capital allowances * for investment in plant and machinery at 3 sites

The existing business support measures provided by the enterprise agencies and through Business Gateway, as well as initiatives like the Small Business Bonus Scheme will continue to be available as appropriate irrespective of Enterprise Area boundaries.

* Business rates discounts cannot be offered at the same location as enhanced capital allowances. The locations, including their site boundaries, where each incentive will be available had to be determined in advance of laying the necessary enabling legislation for each form of support. Eligible businesses will therefore be able, subject to the relevant legislation, to utilise the relevant incentive at each Enterprise Area site but will not be able to determine which measure they would prefer to apply for.
