Loch Duart, another HIE account managed business, is an award-winning independent Scottish salmon farm based in Sutherland and the Hebrides. It is a company with a clear vision; to produce the best tasting products using the highest welfare and environmental methods.
Today's business has developed from some of the oldest farming sites in Scotland. Loch Duart's unique provenance has impressed specialist markets around the world, with its salmon served by name on menus all over the world and sought out by chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Nick Nairn and Rick Stein.
Looking at such a successful brand, you might be forgiven for thinking a development agency couldn't bring much additional value. But Managing Director Nick Joy says this is far from the truth.
"We have been working with HIE since the 1990s," said Nick. "Agency advice has helped us consider the best options as we have developed. It has given us practical support through detailed market analysis, expert partner advice, and has helped us create a growth plan with a clear focus on a more defined market."
Nick says HIE's unique role to assist the economy in some of Scotland's most rural and fragile areas is vital. "Rural locations are often the areas where our food is produced and if we lose those areas we lose that capability.
What we must remember is that Scotland's rural areas offer huge opportunities."
HIE's latest investment with Loch Duart is £200,000 towards the build of a £1m work boat needed to bring their fresh fish across the Minch.
