Venturefest Scotland is a national business innovation summit designed to help high-growth Scottish SMEs and ambitious early-stage companies to grow through innovation.

    International volunteering charity strengthens base on Coll

    The ability of a remote island’s biggest employer to continue operating from the location has been further secured. Project Trust (PT) is a social enterprise based on the Isle of Coll in Argyll. Each year it co-ordinates long term overseas volunteering opportunities for up to 300 young people from across the UK and Europe.

    Argyll hotel plans major upgrade

    An Argyll hotel is to embark on a major upgrade that will boost its star rating and create new jobs. Loch Melfort Hotel, situated between Oban and Kilmartin, has secured £101,000 investment towards the £290,000 project from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).

    April deadline for major communities fund

    HIE is encouraging community bodies and third sector organisations across the region to consider applying to the Aspiring Communities Fund. The £18.9 million fund is being run as part of the European Social Fund, with the Scottish Government as lead partner. The deadline for the first round of applications is 7 April.

    A £1 million pilot programme to boost innovation in aquaculture in the Highlands and Islands is set to go ahead. HIE approved the funding package and will run the programme in conjunction with the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC).
