The case for rail transport services in the Highlands and Islands - 2004
Highlands and Islands Enterprise commissioned this research which was undertaken by independent consultants Steer Davies Gleave - between August 2003 and March 2004. The study details the economic, social and environmental impact of rail services in the Highlands and Islands, based on interviews with 1,350 passengers and rail freight users. Profiles of each of the region's lines are presented, along with passenger numbers for principal stations and detailed economic and social impact analyses.
