Marketing
We can provide advice and guidance to businesses who need assistance marketing their products or services. This could mean advising on promoting products or services, preparing a marketing plan, producing promotional material, or advising which exhibitions or trade fairs might be suitable for a particular business to attend.
Training
Within companies we can help to identify training needs, draw up action plans and source the relevant training.
For individuals and small businesses, we can also help to identify relevant training courses. As described on our financial assistance pages, we can often also provide funding.
Business Counselling
We have a business counsellor who can provide advice and guidance on running a small business, and this is particularly helpful to people in a business start-up situation. During your time on the business start-up scheme, or simply in the early stages of your business start-up, you can have access to our business counsellor whenever convenient to you.
Investors in People
More specialised advisers work in our IIP team to help guide businesses through the process of committing to and becoming recognised as an Investor in People. The programme helps businesses to make the most of their staff, their most valuable asset, by improving planning, strengthening communications, identifying training needs, etc. This is particularly valuable to Orkney businesses where unemployment is low and key staff are difficult to replace.
E-Business
We can provide an e-business adviser who will help identify e-business solutions which can help your business make the most of new technologies. Our adviser can provide advice and information on the latest developments, and works closely with local experts to take forward projects which can benefit Orkney as a whole.

Tourism Training
