The economic and social impact of no-frills air services in the Highlands and Islands

Highlands and Islands Enterprise with Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL) commissioned this research which was undertaken by independent consultants SQW between July and December 2002.

The study provides evidence of the potential scale and distribution of the economic benefits that no-frills airline routes can bring to the Highlands and Islands. It quantifies the economic impact of the present EasyJet service between Luton and Inverness, and estimates the impacts of potential services to Inverness from London Stansted, Dublin and Frankfurt (Hahn) and from Prestwick to Stornoway.
