National Training Awards 2006 Finalists

Parkland, the Scottish care home operator has won a national award for its pioneering work on care home management.  The Moray based company operates six care homes and had to transform its approach to cope with the intorduction of free personal care in the ome for the elderly.  Its solution was to create 20 experienced carers as shift leaders who could provide nursing care to residents at Parklands homes.

Parklands have been supported by HIE Moray towards their training needs and through this, staff attended the SVQ level three course in health and social care run by Moray College.  Shift leaders at Parklands now have clinical skills to support the nurses and managers and the company has become an SVQ centre offering levels two to four in health and social care.
