Objectives

Local Economic Forums are about resolving overlap and duplication in local economic development through improved partnership working and by engaging the business community in service design.

Membership

There are 22 Forums in Scotland, their membership comprising key public and private sector representatives, including Local Authorities, Local Enterprise Companies, Tourist Boards, Further Education, Higher Education, Federation of Small Business and Scottish Chambers of Commerce.

Functions

Each Forum has produced an action plan to tackle overlap and duplication in business support services and to address gaps in delivery. They have now moved to a more strategic level of operation by providing the local economic dimension of Community Planning in their area.

Next steps

Forums are continuing to deliver on their action plans whilst also further developing their local economic development strategies
