Localfoodshop.co.uk

Localfoodshop.co.uk has been set up as a social enterprise to support the local food sector and is a new way for farmers and producers to sell their goods directly to consumers. Whilst the site primarily encourages local trading through a postcode-based search system, buyers from across the UK can find producers and buy online. The site operates like a virtual farmers' market with information about the goods and services on offer, and the customers can place their orders from the comfort of their own home.

This website gives producers the opportunity to move into the world of e-commerce without taking the huge step of building and maintaining their own website and e-commerce system. Or, alternatively, those that already do have their own website are able to widen their marketing and customer base.
