Secure future for mechanical engineer

Alan Chadfield-Fousert from Elgin made the most of his engineering management and organisational skills from the RAF to start Tower Security Systems five years ago.

Since then he has seen his business develop and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include intruder alarms, CCTV, access control systems and more, for both domestic and commercial customers across the north of Scotland.

During his final months at RAF Lossiemouth, Alan decided he wanted a change from a mechanical background and diversify his skills into an electronic field. Having considered satellite and TV installation and after some basic research, he chose to start his own fully registered security firm.

Alan said: "I always wanted to work for myself and the satisfaction of seeing a job through from start to end is a great feeling. Working for yourself requires many sacrifices however the long term gain is my goal".

"I'd advise any RAF personnel to make use of the many facilities and resources that are available. The life changing decision to start out on your own is not to be taken lightly. How you proceed in the initial period will affect your future viability and always remember support is out there for those that require it".
