Analysis of lottery awards to the Highlands and Islands 1995-2002

In October 2003, Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) commissioned an analysis of National Lottery awards to the Highlands and Islands since the inception of the National Lottery in 1995.

The league table of total lottery awards, published annually by Lottery Monitor, has consistently shown that the HIE area seemed to be benefiting well from National Lottery funding. However, it was not possible to deduce from these tables the extent of funding from each of the various funds across each LEC area. HIE, therefore, wished to explore the issue of National Lottery awards to the Highlands and Islands in greater depth.

Accordingly, an analysis was carried out for HIE to assess how successful the area has been in accessing lottery funding since it was introduced in 1995 - through an analysis of awards from the different distributing bodies (New Opportunities Fund; Community Fund; Heritage Lottery Fund; Millennium Commission; Scottish Arts Council; Sport Scotland) - and of awards to each of its ten constituent local enterprise companies (LECs).

The results of this analysis can be downloaded here.
