Looking for help with a community project?

Who can receive help?
Properly constituted groups, with membership open to all. If you are starting a new group, we can help with model constitutions etc. Your group must be based in Lochaber.

What kind of projects can receive help?
A huge variety of community enterprises and projects can receive help – ranging from small grants for equipment, to funds for a new village hall. We can support projects which enhance the culture and heritage of Lochaber, including the promotion of the Gaelic language or community based events and festivals. If your project will bring something new to the cultural, social or sporting life of Lochaber, contact us and we ’ll provide further guidance.

What kind of help can we get?
We can help with advice and funding. Grants are available for feasibility studies for the purchase of equipment and refurbishment of buildings. We cannot help with ongoing running costs or general maintenance.

What is not assisted?
We cannot help you if you have already bought the equipment or started working on your project, so contact us as soon as possible when planning your project.

How much funding can we get?
Our average grant is 25%, but this amount will vary depending on the size of your project and its location. Projects based in the most rural parts of Lochaber may receive higher levels of assistance. We will also help signpost you to other potential sources of funding such as Lottery or European funding.

How long does it take?
The planning stages of a community project can be lengthy, and we will work with you throughout this period. We will assess whether your project is eligible for assistance and will help you with the application process.

We will also continue to give you advice and support once your project is up and running.
