Aims

Manual Handling activities are the cause of numerous accidents in the workplace and also long term disorders such as back pain and reduced mobility. This 1 day course will enable delegates to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the development of safer methods and tasks in co-operation with their managers and supervisors.

Client Group

All personnel required to carry out manual handling tasks.

Award

Inverness College Attendance Certificate.

Benefits

At the end of the course delegates should be able to:

  • Explain what is meant by the term ‘manual handling’.
  • Explain how manual handling can cause injuries and give examples.
  • State the principals for controlling manual handling risks and apply them in a practical context.

Course Content

Candidates will cover the following:

  • Introduction: What is Manual Handling
  • The responsibilities imposed by the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
  • Manual Handling injuries
  • Completing manual handling assessments
  • Controlling the risks
  • Safer handling techniques

Where possible, if a course is delivered to a single organisation, the organisation’s existing policies, procedures and documentation will be used during the course to ensure that delegates understand the organisation’s policy/procedures relating to manual handling.

This Course Costs £150 per person. Fees include lunch and other refreshments. All fees are VAT exempt.
