To realise their full potential, people must be able to acquire new skills, knowledge and capabilities. It is our aim to promote access to skills by helping people who are not currently in work.
This support will take the form of practical advice and guidance across a range of skills development issues. If you wish to know more about our aims for skills development please ask for a copy of our strategy.
Guidance
We realise that advice and guidance is not always enough and we will therefore also consider financial assistance for courses or training where a guarantee of employment exists.
Conditions of funding
• The award of assistance is discretionary and we will consider each application on its own merits. We will consider assistance up to £500 or 50% whichever is the lesser, provided that all other funding sources available to you have been exhausted.
• It is important to remember that we cannot consider financial assistance if training has already started.
• You should be at least 18 years old and not in full-time or further education
• You should apply at least 2 weeks before training starts.
• We can consider financial assistance towards training fees only. Consideration may be given towards travel expenses, at the disrection of the LEC
• We will not normally consider more than one application per person per financial year
• Training costs must exceed £100
Please note that we cannot help towards the cost of gaining an academic qualification.
Next step
For more information please contact a member of Customer Services Team. We will discuss your proposal and, if you appear to be eligible for help, we will send you an application form which you must return with a guarantee of employment from a named employer and specified start date. Please note offers of employment through recruitment agencies are not deemed sufficient evidence as a guarantee of employment.
