Drumnadrochit is a main service and route centre. The village occupies a key position adjacent to the A82(T), some 25km from Inverness and enjoys a spectacular setting beside Loch Ness.

Proximity to the City has resulted in sustained daily commuting patterns. The population has increased steadily as local services have built up over the years.

Recent initiatives include sheltered housing and day care accommodation, Tourist Information/Service Point, a new drainage works and trunk road traffic measures.

The economy draws heavily on a vibrant seasonal tourist trade.  Local theme centres attract over 200,000 visitors per annum. The renowned scenic route through Glenurquhart is supplemented by improvement of facilities at Temple Pier and Urquhart Castle.  The villages location on Loch Ness and within the Great Glen makes it ideally placed to develop as a base for outdoor pursuits.
