Capable communities understand the need to research, think through, consult on and thoroughly plan community initiatives. They are keen to learn from others, pull in expert help when appropriate and build their organisational ability

We firmly believe that time and resources invested in the crucial early stages of the project life-cycle reap dividends in helping community groups make informed choices. This in turn leads to better project design and more sustainable community initiatives.

Activities which we can support include:

  • Study trips
  • Research into development of a project or the organisation
  • Additional resources for project planning
  • Engaging consultants to assist with a feasibility study or business plan

Grants provide for up to £250 (per individual) for study trips or up to £2,000 towards a feasibility or planning exercise. Assistance is discretionary with the maximum intervention rate 50% of eligible costs.
