Community investment
Successful communities are those with a strong and vibrant sense of identity and the ability to sustain community involvement. By giving local communities the resources to improve their amenities and quality of life, much more than social benefits are attained. Community investment is the main instrument of finance available to support community-led initiatives. Available to formally constituted voluntary groups and community businesses with open membership, we offer discretionary funding, normally up to a maximum of 40 per cent of eligible capital costs. Larger projects may find our intervention rate no more than 10 per cent. A wide range of projects can be supported including: community facilities e.g. local halls, culture including arts, heritage and Gaelic, sport, childcare, youth provision, village regeneration work, environmental improvements including footpaths, social and community enterprise. However, our priorities in 2006/07 are culture including childcare and sport, and youth projects. |
