Community Economic Development (CED) is a European Union-funded programme aimed at helping communities have a bigger say in the development of their own area. Through the support of small-scale local projects, we seek to help rural or disadvantaged communities to help themselves.

Between 2004 and 2006 the programme will have over £150,000 of European funds available to assist projects supporting local communities. Together with matching funding from the UK public and private sectors, the CED programme will invest over £400,000 across the most needy communities in the INBSE area.

The following Highland Council wards will be prioritised for funding:

Rural areas

  • Nairn Cawdor
  • Nairn Auldearn
  • Loch Ness East
  • Loch Ness West
  • Beauly and Strathglass

    Urban areas
  • Dalneigh
  • Merkinch
  • Hilton

Community groups applying for assistance must be constituted groups. CED funds cannot exceed 50 per cent of any project. Therefore match funding from public and private/community sources must be found.  The total cost should not exceed £100,000

E-mail us  for further information.

If your group is based in the Badenoch and Strathspey area, please contact Kirsty Conti on 01309 696000.
